Izimoya returns to the MBR2017. She is kept at St Francis and will be sailed to Simon’s Town, the starting port, in early September. Izimoya is owned and skippered by the experienced Jasper van der Westhuizen. Jasper and his boat are regulars to Offshore sailing, having participated in the MBR2016 and the Vasco race last year. It comes with a lot of commitment, as the boat is not based in the Cape, requiring many miles of deliveries. Jasper is known to personally do his own deliveries. Izimoya plans on sailing with a crew of 4. They are the first boat to enter from outside the Cape.
